Daily Sales Report Template (Free Template)

By Veira · Updated June 2026

Use this daily sales report template to record what you sold each day, split by cash and M-Pesa, and reconcile your takings so you catch any gap the same evening rather than at month end.

How to use the daily sales report template

  1. 1
    Total the day
At close, enter your total sales for the day from your POS or sales book.
  2. 2
    Split by payment type
Enter the cash counted (after float), the M-Pesa received and any card payments.
  3. 3
    Reconcile
Cash plus M-Pesa plus card should equal total sales. Any difference is a gap to trace while the day is fresh.
  4. 4
    Note the cause
Record what explained any gap, so a recurring pattern at the same time or shift becomes visible.
Tips
  • +Reconcile every evening, not at month end.
  • +Always remove your opening float before counting cash.
  • +A repeating gap at the same shift is a workflow leak or a theft pattern.

Frequently asked questions

What is a daily sales report?

A daily sales report records what you sold in a day, split by payment type, and reconciles your cash, M-Pesa and card takings against the total. It catches shortfalls the same evening while you can still trace them.

How do I reconcile my daily sales?

Add your cash counted (after removing the float), M-Pesa received and any card payments. The total should equal your recorded sales. Any difference is a gap to investigate while the day is fresh.

Why reconcile daily instead of monthly?

A daily gap is small and recent, usually one or two transactions you can still reconstruct. A monthly gap is the sum of a whole month of errors with a cold trail, which is why month-end shortfalls so often go unexplained.

What does a recurring shortfall mean?

A gap that lands on the same shift, till or time of day is a pattern, not bad luck. It points to a workflow step that leaks or something worth watching for theft.

How does Veira help?

Veira links each sale to its payment as it happens, so the day is already reconciled at close and any unmatched sale or payment is flagged for you.
