What this tool is for

This checker is designed for Kenyan business owners and accountants to score eTIMS compliance against the working rules that KRA now enforces. The questions cover the core obligations: registration, real-time invoice transmission, correct invoice fields, B2B buyer PINs, expense backing, offline handling and reconciliation. The recommended fixes match what would resolve each gap in practice.

If your business scores 8 or higher, you are in solid shape and the remaining items are typically routine cleanup. A score of 5 to 7 means you have meaningful gaps that the January 2026 income/expense validation will surface; these are worth closing soon. A score under 5 means there are systemic issues that need fixing before the next return cycle.

Who should use it

Small business owners running their own POS or eTIMS Lite, accountants doing a quick health check on a client, and bookkeepers preparing a monthly close. The tool runs entirely in your browser; nothing is sent to a server and no signup is required. Share it freely with colleagues over WhatsApp or an accountant community group.

What to do after you get a score

Work through the suggested fixes in order. Most gaps are fixed at the source: a product file with the wrong tax codes, a workflow that does not capture buyer PIN at B2B sales, suppliers who are not registered on eTIMS. Once the underlying issue is fixed, future invoices clean up automatically; you do not have to re-do a year of past sales.

If the score is uncomfortable, the deeper articles in the full eTIMS Kenya guide walk through each gap and the right fix. The registration guide and the how to issue a compliant invoice piece are the right places to start for businesses just getting set up.
