More detail
Expect at least three lines. Share capital is your ownership stake and is generally not withdrawable while you remain a member. Deposits are your accumulated contributions, which determine how much you can borrow and are not designed to be moved in and out. A front-office savings balance, which only exists where the Sacco is licensed to take withdrawable deposits, is the only one that behaves like an ordinary account.
Adding the three together and thinking of the total as your savings is the most common misreading of a Sacco statement, and it is usually the smallest line that is actually spendable. If you have guaranteed another member, part of your deposits may also be committed even though nothing on the statement is obviously flagged, so ask.
